IF: Entangled

This week’s Illustration Friday theme is “entangled.” Those of us with thick curly or wavy hair know the hazards of straightening our tresses; the round brush can get hopelessly entangled in our hair! (And then it’s curly again an hour later anyway. Sigh.)

Using Space and Form

I recently started reading a book on the basics of graphic design. I’m very excited about the tips and principles I’ve learned already, and so decided to do an experiment working primarily with space and form. I’m practicing getting these basic building blocks of design to hang together and convey a concept.

In light of that goal, I used a prior Illustration Friday theme, “unbalanced,” as my message. I created this image by cutting out a few simple shapes and doing a little digital manipulation to achieve a bit of texture.

I agree with rebhuhn’s comment below (thank you! ). The more I looked at it, the more I thought it conveyed “falling” more than “unbalanced,” so I tried something even simpler.
